About Morpeth
 |
Just a short drive from Maitland, along the banks of the Hunter River is the historical village of Morpeth, now classified by the National Trust. Established in 1821, Morpeth was once a thriving river port for ships distributing goods both nationally and worldwide. Visitors can meander through the village on a self guided heritage walk taking in the beautiful sandstone buildings and pathways. Morpeth offers boutique shopping, restaurants and eateries, art galleries, wine cellar, the odd antique and a courthouse museum. Relax in the park on the riverbank by the old wooden bridge, take in the beautiful scenery or sip an ale in the country pub.
